Pikey Peak Trek is a newly opened trekking trail in the lower Khumbu region. Trek to Pikey Peak will allow you to witness stunning views of Mt. Everest along with striking sceneries. The trail is short and easy yet presents some of the best scenic views in Nepal. Along the trail, you will go through several picturesque villages, lovely rivers, dense forests, thrilling suspension bridge, rich forest trail, chortens, and monasteries. Not only this, but the trail also includes many steep ascends and descends that makes this trek even more adventurous. 

You will get to observe a glorious sunrise along with snow-capped mountains, a perfect storybook scenery! During your journey, you will see captivating views of Mt. Thamserku (6,623 m), Mt. Gaurishankar (7,134 m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m), Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m), and many more.

The people here are generally Rai, Limbu, and Sherpa. All of them practice their own tradition, culture, and lifestyle. Moreover, they also have their own language. On this trek, you will get to visit  Thupten Choling Gompa and other monasteries where you will see ancient sculptures and art. The trail itself includes many chortens, gompas, and prayer walls along the way making a good opportunity to know the customs of the region

Best Time to go on Pikey Peak Trek

Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September-November) is the best time to go on Pikey Peak Trekking. During Spring and Autumn, the region presents captivating views of the mountain landscapes and trail also become extremely beautiful. Moreover, you can also go on Pikey Peak Trekking during winter but the harsh cold weather might not fit for everyone.

Pikey Peak Trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazar. From Dhap Bazar, you will trek up to the Pikey Peak through adventurous trail and return back to Kathmandu. No wonder, this trek presents irresistible beauty of the Everest region. Moreover, it is also said that view from Pikey Peak used to be the Sir Edmund Hillary’s favorite view in all of Nepal.

Food, and Accommodation during Pikey Peak Trek

You will stay in 2 or 3 stars hotel in Kathmandu and in lodge/camp during the Pikey Peak Trek. All the rooms will be on twin sharing basis. You will only get breakfast in Kathmandu. There will also be welcome and farewell dinner in Kathmandu. While on the trek the food will be served according to the menu of the lodge. If you stay in camp, food will be prepared and served by the crew members. 

Similarly, drinking water is easily available everywhere. You can carry reusable water bottle and water purification tablets to double check the quality of waters. We highly encourage you not to buy water bottle during the trip as it helps in preservation of the region.

Is Pikey Peak Trek is difficult?

Pikey Peak Trek is a relatively easy journey in the Himalayas. This trek is perfect for to have some trekking experience before going on more tough and challenging treks. 

You don't need to have prior trekking experience to do this trek. However, every day you have to trek for around 5 to 6 hours, which does require good physical fitness, determination, and good stamina. This is a perfect trek for someone especially novice trekkers who wants to taste the beauty of Himalayas but have very limited time on their hands.
