Best Time to go on the Everest Gokyo Chola Pass Trek

The best time to go on Gokyo Cho La Pass Trekking is from pre-monsoon (March to May) and post-monsoon (late September to December). During Post-monsoon time, the sky is usually clear and outstanding mountain views can be seen. Likewise in pre-monsoon, the entire Everest region gets bloomed up with rhododendrons and other wildflowers making the journey even more fascinating. During the Everest Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek-18 days, you will stay in a comfortable and clean lodge. The rooms will be on a twin-sharing basis. There will be limited furniture and common bathrooms. While in Kathmandu, you will stay in a three-star hotel. 

Food will be served as per the menu of lodge/guest house. Besides that, you can buy bars and snacks on the way in the lower altitude. There will also welcome and farewell dinner in Kathmandu along with breakfast every day.

Is  Everest Gokyo Chola Pass Trek difficult?

Yes, Everest Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek is a difficult trek. The trail will include many ascend & descends on steep, rugged, and glacier paths. You have to be in good shape to go on this trek. Every day you have to trek for around 6 to 7 hours on challenging terrain, which does require good physical fitness, determination, and adequate stamina.

Do I need trekking guide for Everest Gokyo Cho La Pass trek?

The choice is yours either to travel with or without a guide. Though this trek takes place on one of the isolated place on the planet, mountainous region, there may not be facility of internet everywhere. But, it is possible to find and can surf the net in a few destinations. Some lodges and hotels may provide free internet whereas some will charge you a little for the net services.

You can charge your mobile phone, camera and other electronic devices in lodges. But you need to have your own charging devices. In most of the teahouses and lodges, they provide running hot shower facility in the route. Also, there will be common washroom at the hotels.

What are the permits needed for Everest Gokyo Cho La Pass trek?

Different permits are required before leaving for Everest base camp Gokyo Cho la Pass trek. You have to issue TIMS Card (Trekkers Information Management System) permit from the tourism department at Kathmandu, Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit at Lukla and Sagarmatha National Park entry permit at Jorsale. Instead of flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, it takes place on Kathmandu to Manthali, Ramechhap due to the runway maintenance at Kathmandu Airport.
