Langtang Gosaikunda Trek will take you to the picturesque Langtang Valley located in the lap of the Himalayas. Langtang valley is one of the remote and bio-diversely rich valleys of Nepal. The region presents irresistible natural beauty and preserved tradition & culture. The trail is relatively easier than other famous treks of Nepal with a little bit of challenging sections that make it more adventurous and perfect. You will get to witness spectacular views of Langtang Lirung (7,246 m), Kinshung (6,781 m), Yansa Tsenji (6,567 m), Ganesh Himal (7,429 m), Annapurna Range (8,091 m), Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m), and many other mountains. 

The langtang valley trekking route is one of the closest mountains adventure to Kathmandu. It is located to the north of the Kathamndu valley and bordering Tibet. The Langtang treks lies on the great himalayan trails. As you will be trekking within the premises of the Langtang National Park, you will have the opportunity to witness rare wildlife like musk deer, red panda, Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan black bear, langue, and rhesus monkey along with numerous species of birds. The whole region is surrounded by dense forests of pine, bamboo, rhododendron making it a paradise to learn about Himalayan flora and fauna. The Langtang valley is mostly inhabited by the Tamangs and Sherpas with Tibetan people. Here the trekkers can explore the unique culture of Tamangs, Sherpas and Tibetan people. The lifestyle of people in this region is still traditional.

Best Time to go on the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

March to June and September to December is the best time to go Langtang Valley Trek. During this time the region presents captivating views of the mountain landscapes and trail also become extremely beautiful. The climate is cold, moderate, and pleasant, which makes the trip even more joyful.

Your trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi. Upon reaching  Syabru Bensi, you will begin trekking through a forested trail, small settlements along with fantastic landscape and stunning snow-capped mountains. Passing by Sherpa Gaon, Lama Hotel, and Ghoda Tabela has the best views and you will arrive at the picturesque Langtang village. You can explore the monastery too. Further, you will continue your trek all the way up to the Gosaikunda Lake en route visiting Kyanjin Gompa and trek down to Dhunche to drive back to Kathmandu.

Food, and Accommodation during Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

You will stay in 2 or 3 stars hotel in Kathmandu. You will only get breakfast in Kathmandu. There will also be welcome and farewell dinner in Kathmandu. There are tea house along the Langtang Valley Trek, not need tents and mattresses. Please retain that the guesthouse rooms will be medium with little furniture and a blanket. While on the langtang trek the food will be served according to the menu of the guesthouse. 

Similarly, drinking water is easily available everywhere. You can carry reusable water bottle and water purification tablets to double check the quality of waters. We highly encourage you not to buy water bottle during the trip as it helps in preservation of the region.

Is the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek difficult?

Langtang Valley Trek is a moderate journey yet few parts of the trail might get challenging. You don't need to have prior trekking experience to do this trek. However, every day you have to trek for around 5 to 6 hours, which does require good physical fitness, determination, and ample stamina.

How long does it take to complete the Langtang Valley Trek?

Normally, the basic Langtang valley trek can be done in 8 days plus arrival and departure day. Langtang Valley Trek is a superb short trek of that offers a lot of scenic punch into a small amount of time. The trail starts from the Syafru Bensi to Lama Hotel to Kyanjin Gompa, following the Langtang River through lush forests and bamboo groves to a sum of high alpine pastures, and peaks on the border with Tibet. But if you have a leisure time, then you can add-up extra 4 days for side trips of Gosaikunda Lake. Generally, the Langtang Gosaikunda trek can be completed within 12 days plus arrival and departure day.

Is there facility of Wi-Fi internet, device charge, and hot shower?

Since you will be in the remote areas as well as mountain region of Langtang, Wi-Fi might not work everywhere. However, some of the lodges offer Wi-Fi with a little charge or in free. And we suggest you not to rely on Wi-Fi while at trek and enjoy the trip.

You can charge your mobile phone, camera, and electronic device in lodges of Langtang trekking. But you need to carry your device charger. Bucket with tap filled with hot water is the most basic way of having a hot shower. In most of the tea house and lodges, there is a squat toilet facility in Langtang trekking route. Also know that there will be common washroom in the lodge and tea house.

What preparation should I make before Langtang trekking?

Normally, Langtang Valley Trek is average easy trekking, technical skill is not required. You do not need very physical fit. But, it is a good idea to do physical exercises at least three weeks before the Langtang Trekking. You can do activities like running, jogging, long walks, cycling and swimming. Gym work out can be a good option too, just do not over do it. An average level of physically and mentally fitness will make your journey less stressful and more comfortable. Is there any risk of getting high altitude sickness?

Yes, but there is very less chance to get high altitude sickness. Altitude Sickness is a common problem when you trek above the height of 3000 meters. There is no high passes to worry however it is not the hardest of treks in Nepal. But there is no knowing who will suffer from altitude sickness. And go slowly, listen to your body, be aware of any changes and listen to your guide if he feels you are showing symptoms which you might not notice. What are the things I need to pack for Langtang Trekking?

You should bring your all travel documents and you need to bring travel clothings. If you are a frequent hiker and forget something, you can hire or buy general trekking equipments in Nepal after arrival. Better to pack sleeping bag also.
