Day 1 Arrival at Kathmandu airport, pick-up and transfer to the hotel

Day 2 Kathmandu city tour and meeting with a guide
Preparation day in Kathmandu with visit to the world heritage sites of the Kathmandu valley. Meet your guide and the representative of Mera Alpine Treks will explain your Trek to the Makalu Sherpani pass. If you have confusion and a question about the trip, you can ask and discuss. Let us know if you have a health problem.

Day 3 Flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar and drive to Num (1572m)
Early in the morning, you will take the flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar (405m). After arrival at Tumlingtar, you have breakfast or lunch, then drives from Tumlingtar to Khadbari to Num Village. Your main trail from Makalu Sherpani Pass departs from Tumlingtar.

Day 4 Num trek to Seduwa (1500m) 5 hours walk
The trail descends strongly from Num and crosses the Arun River at 1000 meters above sea level. The way to Seduwa is particularly rocky, tiny terraces planted with corn and barley. Then we have to go up along the opposite bank around Seduwa.

Day 5 Seduwa trek to Tashigaon (2100m) 5 hours
The path gradually climbs over Kasuwa Khola to Gyang. After school, walk through the wooded areas and terraced fields of Rupisa. The route crosses meadows and several streams. Then, climb to the Sherpa village of Tashigaon, the last permanent settlement in the valley.

Day 6 Trek from Tashigaon to Khongma pass (3500m) 6 hours
After leaving Tashigaon, the trail first follows a river before crossing stones and areas of glacial moraine. We walk through the sparse forests along the ridge on a hill and descend a little towards Khongma at 3500 meters. The Makalu, 8475 meters high, dominates the northeast side of the valley.

Day 7 Trek from Khongma to Mumbuk (3540m) 5 hours
The path follows the ridge, gently ascends to Kike La (4127m). You will have a superb view of Chamlang (7321m) and some peaks then descend through the rhododendron forest to Mumbuk.

Day 8 Trek from Mumbuk to Nehe Kharka (3700m) 6 hours
We descend a ravine to the Barun River still in the fir forests. The trail is rocky mud and sloppy in places as it leads to the glacial valley, approaching Barun Khola. Climb from Yangla Kharka to a large grassy plain open to Nehe Kharka. From there you will have a good view of some peaks and mountains.

Day 9 Trek from Nehe to Makalu Base Camp (4870m) 7 hours of walking
We follow Barun Khola and then climb to Ripok Kharka to Merek to Shershong. On the way have excellent view of the pyramid-shaped mountains and gradual climb to a pass, cross rocks to Makalu base camp. Here we have a breathtaking view of the south face of Makalu.

Day 10 Acclimatization and exploration day at Makalu base camp
Rest and explore the day at Makalu Base Camp with a day of acclimatization and training for the Makalu Sherpani Pass. The Hillary and French base camps are far away on the glacier, after Barun Pokhari, and these are now the traditional base camps used by the climbing groups of the Makalu Expedition group. Makalu base camp offers breathtaking views of its south face, with the Makalu buttress south offering views of Baruntse (7,152 m), Everest and Lhotse.

Day 11 Trek through Hillary Camp to Swiss Base Camp (5150m)
Long walk on the Barun Glacier through Hillary Camp to the Swiss Base Camp. The hike in Swiss Base Camp is delicate and involves a boulder jump as we follow the Barun glacier directly under the huge west face of Makalu. The Swiss Base Camp is located in the middle of the moraine in a sandy location just in front of the powerful west pillar of Makalu.

Day 12 Trek from Swiss Camp to Sherpani Col High Camp (5688m)
After leaving the Swiss Base Camp, we have reserved a full day to acclimatize and we will aim to reach a point of view above the camp with a magnificent view of Everest and the legendary Kangshung Face. The trail is much less defined and with more rock jumps, and now that we are climbing high clouds, it can obscure the trail. We have high camp at the muzzle of the glacier at 5,688 meters with the Sherpani Col 3 hours above us.

Day 13 Cross the East Col pass (6,180 m) to Baruntse Camp One (6000m)
We enter an area of high passes to enter the upper Hunku, a mountainous desert, a place of massive moraines, glacial lakes and spectacular peaks. Crossing Sherpani col pass (6,180 meters) and we will camp at Baruntse camp I on the west pass 6,100 meters. Sherpani Col pass takes rope travel and abseiling sections. Although these are the most demanding days of our trek, we are deep in the Himalayas and the massive scale of the mountains around us is an impressive sight to behold.

Day 14 Additional day for weather and acclimatization
It is not guaranteed to favor the weather conditions according to the calendar when crossing the Sherpani Col Pass and the West Col Pass. Otherwise, if someone has acclimatized a group problem, this extra day will be flexible so you can wait and rest. Our Sherpa and mountaineering leader guides will manage the next few days depending on snow and weather conditions.

Day 15 Cross the west pass (6,190 m) to Baruntse base camp (5500m) 7 hours
Today we cross our second high pass between Baruntse and Pyramid Peak, passing through the lower Barun Glacier through the Honku Basin. If the situations are favorable and the groups are advancing at a good pace, we could try to pass the crossing of the West Pass (6,190 meters) in one day. The guide and leader of the Sherpa Mera Alpine Treks fixed the rope and made the way to cross the west pass. Once the crossings are over, we descend into the Honku valley to the Baruntse base camp.

Day 16 Trek to Amphu Labtsa base camp (5527m) 6 hours
The trail continues on the Hunku glacier to reach Setipokhari (5414m) and goes up to the Amphu Labtsa pass, flanked by immense fluted ice walls. Amphu Labsta base camp is located near the rocks that lead to the pass. The Amphu Labsta pass is located at the head of the Honku valley on our right. The approach to the Honku pass is misleading.

Day 17 Cross the Amphu Labtsa pass (5845 m) to Chukung (4730 m) 7 hours
The path descends to the last summer settlement of Chukung on the Imja glacier, at the foot of the island's peak after crossing the Amphu Labtsa pass (5,845 meters). On the southeast side we find much more sun and little snow, just a collection of rocks that gradually lead away. On the north side we find steep slopes of snow which we must take care to descend by fixed ropes towards the snow basins.

Day 18 Trek from Chukung to Tengboche (3860m) 4 hours
The path continues through the meadows where the yaks graze and leads to the small monastery of Pangboche passing through the village of Mingbo. We are in the cultural heart of Everest with a charming view of Ama Dablam. After crossing the river on a bridge, we walk 2 hours through a beautiful forest well maintained by the monks of the monastery of Tengboche.

Day 19 Trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazar (3440m) 4 hours
The paths that descend on the right flank of the Dudh Kosi River through a beautiful forest. We cross a bridge at Phunki Tenga and then drive to the large Sherpa settlement village of Namche Bazar.
Note: If we cross the passes on time, we take our extra day of relaxation at Namche Bazar. Otherwise, we are already on our way.

Day 20 Trek from Namche to Phakding to Lukla (2840m) 5 hours
Today, your last day of trekking will take you through the pine and rhododendron forests. Continue the hike to Phakding to the small mountain airstrip at Lukla to catch your return flight to Kathmandu. If time permits, your trekking team can prepare a farewell gift for you. You would be expected to join in the song and dance.

Day 21 Flight from Lukla to Kathmndu
Goodbye to your porters and your staff, you return to Kathamndu where our representative will meet you to take you to the hotel where you can enjoy your cold beer and a hot shower.

Day 22 Free day in Kathamndu and visits
Today you can relax at the hotel or buy souvenirs for your family and friends. You could visit the city of Kathamndu with some of the World Heritage sites. In the evening we will be one of Kathamndu's best restaurants for dinner.

Day 23 Return to the airport for the last day of departure
Depending on the time of your flight, you will be transferred from the hotel to the airport. Airport time is 3 hours before departure time and hotel departure time is 12 noon. If you are traveling late at night and need half a day to use the hotel, you can let us know to confirm the room for you.
